Yudhiṣṭhira’s reassurance and praise of Kṛṣṇa, Arjuna, Bhīma, and Sātyaki
sañjaya uvāca | duḥśāsana rathāḥ sarve kasmāc caite pravidrutāḥ | kaccit kṣemaṃ tu nṛpateḥ kaccij jīvati saindhavaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: “Duḥśāsana, why are all these chariot-warriors fleeing back in such disorder? Is King Duryodhana safe and unharmed? And is the Sindhu king, Jayadratha, still alive?”
The verse highlights the moral and psychological cost of adharma-driven war: even powerful leaders become consumed by fear and uncertainty, and the first concern becomes mere survival rather than righteousness or justice.
Sañjaya observes Kaurava chariot-warriors fleeing in confusion and urgently questions Duḥśāsana about the cause, specifically fearing for Duryodhana’s safety and whether Jayadratha (the Sindhu king) has been killed.
