Sañjaya said: Hārdikya Kṛtavarmā, inflamed with rage, showered Śaineya (Sātyaki) with sharp arrows. Struck by that assault, Sātyaki’s anger too rose fiercely.

The verse highlights how anger in war rapidly multiplies: one enraged act (a barrage of arrows) provokes a matching fury in the opponent, illustrating the ethical danger of krodha (wrath) as a driver of escalating violence even among renowned warriors.
Kṛtavarmā (Hārdikya) launches a fierce arrow-shower at Śaineya/Sātyaki. The attack intensifies Sātyaki’s anger, setting up a heightened duel and further escalation within the Drona Parva battle sequence.
