Educational Q&A

As a chapter-colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the ethical tension of the war by highlighting two motifs—strategic penetration (Sātyaki’s entry into the enemy host) and martial prowess (Kṛtavarmā’s valor). It reminds the reader that in the Mahābhārata, individual heroics are narrated within a broader inquiry into dharma under extreme conflict.

This is a concluding notice: it marks the end of the 114th chapter within the Jayadratha-slaying section of Droṇa Parva, summarizing that the chapter covered Sātyaki’s breakthrough into the Kaurava army and Kṛtavarmā’s acts of valor.
