तस्यां विदीर्यमाणायां शिने: पौत्रो महारथ:
tasyāṃ vidīryamāṇāyāṃ śineḥ pautro mahārathaḥ
Sañjaya said: As that formation was being torn apart, the grandson of Śini—the great chariot-warrior—advanced to act.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic ideal of a kṣatriya: when the battle-line is breaking and crisis arises, a true mahāratha steps forward. It also underscores how epic identity is framed through lineage—valor is presented as inherited responsibility as well as personal excellence.
Sañjaya reports that a previously mentioned formation or force is being shattered. At that moment, Śini’s grandson—understood in the Mahābhārata context as the warrior Sātyaki—moves into the action as a leading fighter.
