Dhṛtarāṣṭra–Saṃjaya Dialogue; Account of Sātyaki vs Alambusa
विव्याध च रणे राजन् सात्यकिं सत्यविक्रमम्
vivyādha ca raṇe rājan sātyakiṃ satyavikramam
Sañjaya said: O King, in the thick of battle he pierced Sātyaki—whose prowess never proved false—marking the relentless escalation of violence, where even the most steadfast warriors become targets under the demands and compulsions of war.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the harsh moral reality of war: even the most righteous and proven heroes are subject to injury, reminding readers that martial duty (kṣatriya-dharma) operates within a tragic field of unavoidable harm and consequence.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, during the battle, Sātyaki—renowned for steadfast valor—was struck and wounded, indicating a pivotal moment of direct confrontation against a prominent Pāṇḍava ally.
