Sañjaya said: O King, the radiance of Śauri (Kṛṣṇa), holding the reins, and of Pārtha (Arjuna), bearing his bow, shone together like the sun and fire. In the midst of war, their combined splendor signals not mere martial prowess but the moral force of rightful purpose guided by clear counsel and disciplined action.

The verse highlights the ideal union of guidance and action: Kṛṣṇa as the steady charioteer (discernment, strategy, moral clarity) and Arjuna as the disciplined archer (courage, skill, execution). Their ‘sun-and-fire’ radiance suggests that righteous strength becomes most potent when directed by wise counsel.
Sañjaya describes to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra the striking appearance of Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna on the battlefield—Kṛṣṇa holding the reins and Arjuna holding his bow—whose combined brilliance appears like the sun and blazing fire, emphasizing their formidable presence at this point in the Drona Parva.
