Droṇa’s engagements with the Kekayas and Cedis

na tathā gacchati rathas tapanasya viśāmpate | nendrasya na tu rudrasya nāpi vaiśravaṇasya ca, prajānātha |

Sañjaya said: O lord of the people, O ruler among men—neither the chariot of the Sun, nor that of Indra, nor of Rudra, nor even of Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera) moved with such swift force as Arjuna’s chariot did.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how extraordinary human effort, when aligned with righteous purpose in a dharmic struggle, can be portrayed as surpassing even divine benchmarks—an epic way of affirming resolve, duty, and moral momentum in battle.

Sañjaya reports to the king that Arjuna’s chariot is moving with astonishing speed, so great that it is compared favorably against the famed chariots of major deities (Sun, Indra, Rudra, Kubera), emphasizing Arjuna’s dominance in the unfolding combat.
