वर्तमाने तथा रौद्रे संग्रामे भरतर्षभ । उभयो: सेनयो: शूरा नामृष्यन्त परस्परम्‌,भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस भयंकर संग्राममें दोनों सेनाओंके शूरवीर एक-दूसरेका उत्कर्ष नहीं सह सके

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | vartamāne tathā raudre saṅgrāme bharatarṣabha | ubhayoḥ senayoḥ śūrā nāmṛṣyanta parasparam |

Translation

Sañjaya said: O bull among the Bharatas, as that fierce battle raged on, the heroes of both armies could not endure one another’s ascendancy; each refused to tolerate the other’s superiority, and so the clash intensified.
