भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal

पुरतोडपि च पृष्ठे च पार्श्वयोश्व भूशाहतः । एको बहुभिरत्यर्थ धैर्याद्‌ राजन्‌ न विव्यथे,राजन्‌! वह अकेला था और उसपर प्रहार करनेवालोंकी संख्या बहुत थी। वह आगे- पीछे और अगल-बगलमें अत्यन्त घायल हो गया था; तो भी धैर्यके कारण व्यथित नहीं हुआ

Transliteration

purato 'pi ca pṛṣṭhe ca pārśvayoś ca bhūśāhataḥ | eko bahubhir atyarthaṁ dhairyād rājan na vivyathe ||

Translation

Sañjaya said: Though struck from the front and from behind, and wounded on both flanks, he—alone against many—did not falter, O King. By steadfast courage he endured the press of battle without yielding to distress.
