Sañjaya said: Approaching his father, the mighty-armed one of steadfast valor, calm and unperturbed, bowed respectfully with joined palms and greeted him with humility. The scene underscores filial duty and reverence: even amid the pressures of war, proper conduct toward one’s parent is upheld through disciplined speech and courteous salutation.

Even in a martial setting, dharma is expressed through self-control (avyagra) and humility (vinaya). Respectful greeting with joined palms (kṛtāñjali) models ethical conduct toward elders and parents.
A heroic figure approaches his father and formally salutes him, composed and reverent. The verse highlights the ritual and emotional propriety of meeting one’s parent—greeting first, with humility and folded hands.
