Chapter 89: Bhīma dispatched to protect Ghaṭotkaca amid escalating engagements

Yudhiṣṭhiro ’pi Kauravyo Yamābhyāṃ sahitaḥ prabhuḥ | Maheṣvāsaṃ naravyāghraṃ Bhīṣmaṃ Śāntanavaṃ yayau ||

Sañjaya said: Yudhiṣṭhira too—the lordly Kaurava—accompanied by the two sons of Yamā (Nakula and Sahadeva), advanced toward Bhīṣma, Śāntanu’s son, that tiger among men and mighty archer, to confront him in battle. The scene underscores the grave duty of kings in war: even the righteous must step forward when dharma requires resistance to adharma, though the opponent is a revered elder.
