त॑ दृष्टवा विरथं तत्र सुतसोमो महारथः । पश्यतां सर्वसैन्यानां रथमारोपयत् स्वकम्,भीमसेनके बाणसे मूर्च्छित दुर्योधन महारथी सुतसोमने अपने भाई श्रुतकर्माको युद्धमें रथहीन हुआ देख समस्त सैनिकोंके देखते-देखते उसे अपने रथपर चढ़ा लिया
taṁ dṛṣṭvā virathaṁ tatra sutasomo mahārathaḥ | paśyatāṁ sarvasainyānāṁ ratham āropayat svakam ||
Sañjaya said: Seeing Sutasoma there left without a chariot, the great warrior—before the eyes of all the armies—lifted him onto his own chariot.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, conduct is governed by dharma: one should not abandon a companion in immediate peril, and one should restore fairness and capability by aiding the vulnerable rather than taking advantage of helplessness.
Sutasoma has become chariotless in the fighting. A great warrior, in full view of both armies, places him onto his own chariot so that he is protected and can continue the battle.
