Sañjaya said: Struck and tormented by Droṇa’s sharp arrows, that host began to whirl about on the spot like a violently agitated ocean. Seeing that army, your forces broke into joy. Beholding the preceptor Droṇa, fiercely enraged, crashing down upon the enemy ranks while the Pāṇḍava host fell back, all your warriors on every side cried out, “Well done! Well done!”, O Bharata.

The verse underscores how battlefield momentum and charismatic leadership (Drona’s furious charge) can sway collective emotion—turning violence into an occasion for celebration. It invites reflection on the ethical tension in war: tactical success earns applause, yet the same acts intensify the sorrowful reality of fratricidal conflict.
Drona’s sharp arrows batter the opposing host so severely that it churns in confusion like a storm-tossed ocean. Seeing Drona enraged and pressing hard into the enemy while the Pandava ranks give ground, the Kaurava warriors rejoice and shout ‘sādhu, sādhu’ in praise of him.
