Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the human cost of war: even when combat is conducted by a capable warrior within the accepted battlefield role, the immediate ethical reality is suffering—expressed as the collective cry of an army being destroyed.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhīmasena, fighting with exceptional skill and varied tactics, is slaughtering Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s forces, causing panic and a loud outcry throughout the Kaurava ranks.
