Sañjaya said: “If I return without Bhīma, what will the warrior community say of me? When Bhīma has gone alone along the path of battle and I too am stationed on the battlefield, how could I come back without him?”

A kṣatriya is bound by honor and duty to stand firm in battle and not abandon a comrade; fear of blame here reflects the ethical pressure of warrior-dharma and accountability to one’s community.
Sañjaya voices a resolve not to withdraw from the battlefield without Bhīma, emphasizing that Bhīma has advanced alone on the battle-path while he himself remains present in the fight.
