Sañjaya said: “Charioteer! Indeed, even my life has no purpose for me today—if, on the battlefield, I were to abandon Bhīmasena and cast off my bond of affection with the Pāṇḍavas.”

The verse frames life as meaningful only when aligned with one’s chosen bonds of loyalty and duty: abandoning a righteous commitment (here, steadfastness toward Bhīma and the Pāṇḍavas) renders mere survival ethically empty.
Sañjaya reports an intense resolve: he declares that if he were to leave Bhīmasena in the midst of battle and sever his affectionate allegiance to the Pāṇḍavas, then continuing to live would serve no purpose.
