Sañjaya said: O King, Dhṛṣṭadyumna—the Pāṇḍavas’ commander, of immeasurable spirit and great might—met Droṇa in battle, that doer of fierce deeds. The encounter reveals the war’s moral tension: even a righteous cause must face revered elders and teachers, where duty and personal bonds collide.

Even in a dharmic struggle, one may be compelled to confront respected elders and teachers; the verse highlights the hard edge of kṣatriya-duty where personal reverence must yield to responsibility in war.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Dhṛṣṭadyumna, the Pāṇḍava commander, directly engages Droṇācārya in the battlefield, initiating a fierce clash between two major leaders.
