Sañjaya continues, noting the vast range of beings present and touched by these events—sages, Gandharvas the divine musicians, Yakṣas and Rākṣasas, serpent‑kind such as the Nāgas, Piśācas, and human beings—together with beasts, birds, and creeping creatures. The verse declares that the upheaval of war is not confined to kings and warriors alone; it reverberates through the whole moral and cosmic order, reminding all of the universal consequences of adharma and violence.

The verse highlights the universality of moral consequence: war and adharma disturb not only human society but the wider cosmos, drawing the attention (and suffering) of sages, celestial beings, spirits, and all living creatures.
Sañjaya enumerates various classes of beings—divine, semi-divine, human, and animal—indicating the breadth of those present as witnesses or impacted by the events surrounding the Kurukṣetra war and its developments.
