Sañjaya said: Before the eyes of all the warriors, the immeasurable-souled Sātyaki checked the Kaurava hero with arrows whose joints were bent—restraining his advance in the open field of battle. The scene underscores how, amid the chaos of war, prowess is exercised not merely to kill but to halt an opponent’s momentum and protect one’s side through disciplined force.

Even in war, strength is shown through controlled action: the hero’s skill is used to restrain an enemy’s advance and safeguard one’s side, reflecting disciplined kṣatriya conduct rather than mere rage.
Sañjaya reports that Sātyaki, in full view of the assembled warriors, halted a Kaurava champion by showering him with powerful arrows, stopping his forward movement in the battle.
