ततो रणायाभिमुखी प्रयाता प्रत्यर्जुनं शान्तनवाभिगुप्ता । सेना महोग्रा सहसा कुरूणां वेगो यथा भीम इवापगाया:,तदनन्तर नदीके भयानक वेगकी भाँति कौरवोंकी वह अत्यन्त भयंकर सेना शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मसे सुरक्षित हो रणके लिये अर्जुनकी ओर सहसा चली ध्वजिनीं धार्तराष्ट्राणां दीनशत्रुरदीनवत् । प्रत्युध्ययौ स सौभद्रस्तेजसा च बलेन च अपने शत्रुओंको दीन बना देनेवाले सुभद्राकुमारने दैन्यरहित होकर अपने तेज और बलसे कौरवसेनापर धावा किया
tato raṇāyābhimukhī prayātā pratyarjunaṃ śāntanavābhiguptā | senā mahogrā sahasā kurūṇāṃ vego yathā bhīma ivāpagāyāḥ || dhvajinīṃ dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṃ dīnaśatrur adīnavat | pratyudyayau sa saubhadras tejasā ca balena ca ||
Sañjaya said: Then the Kuru host—vast and terrifying—protected by Bhīṣma, the son of Śāntanu, suddenly surged forward toward Arjuna, like the dreadful rush of a river in spate. At that moment, the son of Subhadrā, who makes his foes wretched, advanced without faltering and, by the force of his splendor and strength, charged straight against the Dhārtarāṣṭra battle-array. The scene underscores how, in war, disciplined protection under a seasoned guardian meets the fearless initiative of a righteous champion, and how courage is tested amid overwhelming momentum.
