परस्परेषां वीराणां मनांसि समकम्पयन्‌ । युद्धमें भीष्मजीके धनुषसे छूटे हुए बाणोंसे समस्त योद्धा पीड़ित हो रहे थे। उन बाणोंने परस्पर सभी वीरोंके हृदय कँपा दिये थे

Transliteration

paraspareṣāṃ vīrāṇāṃ manāṃsi samakampayan |

Translation

Sañjaya said: In the thick of battle, Bhīṣma’s arrows, loosed from his bow, tormented the assembled warriors and made the hearts of the opposing heroes tremble against one another—showing war’s overwhelming force, where even the brave are shaken when martial prowess is unleashed without respite.
