Śraddhā–Guṇa–Vibhāga Yoga (Faith and the Three Guṇas) — Mahābhārata Book 6, Chapter 39
iti kṣetraṃ tathā jñānaṃ jñeyaṃ coktaṃ samāsataḥ | mad-bhakta etad vijñāya mad-bhāvāyopapadyate ||
Thus, in brief, the field (the embodied condition), knowledge, and the Supreme Reality to be known have been explained. One who is devoted to me, truly discerning this teaching, attains my own state—union with my being.
अजुन उवाच
The teaching summarizes three essentials—kṣetra (the embodied field of experience), jñāna (the discipline of true understanding), and jñeya (the Supreme Reality). A devotee who comprehends this with clear discernment transcends mere theory and attains the Lord’s own state (mad-bhāva), i.e., spiritual union and liberation.
In the midst of the Kurukṣetra war setting, the instruction turns inward: the speaker concludes a doctrinal section by stating that the analysis of the self, the body, and the Supreme has been given in brief, and that sincere devotion coupled with right understanding leads the seeker to the highest attainment.
