“One who acts for My sake, who holds Me as the supreme goal, who is devoted to Me, free from attachment, and without hostility toward any being—such a person comes to Me, O son of Pāṇḍu.”
अजुन उवाच
The verse defines the qualities of the devotee who attains the Divine: acting as an offering, keeping the Divine as the highest goal, maintaining devotion, renouncing attachment, and cultivating non-enmity toward all beings.
In the midst of the Kurukṣetra discourse, Arjuna asks about the nature of exclusive devotion; the teaching responds by listing practical traits that mark such devotion and lead to union with the Divine.
