Yet beyond that Unmanifest there exists another: an eternal Unmanifest, distinct and transcendent beyond the conditioned, cosmic unmanifest. That supreme divine Person does not perish even when all beings perish.

Educational Q&A

There is a transcendent, eternal reality beyond the cosmic ‘unmanifest’ into which beings dissolve; that supreme principle/person does not perish even when all beings perish. The teaching supports fearlessness and steadiness by grounding one’s understanding in the imperishable.

On the eve of battle, Arjuna raises a philosophical doubt about whether the unmanifest source/absorber of beings is ultimate. The reply distinguishes the conditioned unmanifest from a higher, eternal Unmanifest—identified with the supreme divine Person—thereby reframing the stakes of loss and death in war.
