Vyāsa describes uncanny portents in the world: some women give birth at once to four or five daughters, and those girls, the moment they are born, dance, sing, and laugh. These marvels are told as ominous signs of moral and cosmic disturbance as the great war draws near—when dharma is shaken, nature itself displays disordering wonders.
व्यास उवाच
The verse conveys that when collective dharma declines and a great calamity approaches, reality itself appears unsettled; extraordinary, unnatural events function as moral-cosmic warnings rather than mere curiosities.
Vyāsa is listing alarming portents seen before the great conflict: among them, women bearing multiple daughters at once, and the newborn girls immediately dancing, singing, and laughing—an eerie sign of impending upheaval.
