विनि:सृत्य महोल्काभिस्तिमिरं सर्वतोदिशम् । अन्योन्यमुपतिष्ठद्धिस्तत्र चोक्त महर्षिभि:,सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंमें अन्धकार व्याप्त होनेके कारण बड़ी-बड़ी मशालें जलाकर घरसे निकले हुए महर्षियोंने एक-दूसरेके पास उपस्थित हो इन उत्पातोंके सम्बन्धमें अपना मत इस प्रकार प्रकट किया है
viniḥsṛtya maholkābhis timiraṃ sarvato diśam | anyonyam upatiṣṭhaddhis tatra cokta maharṣibhiḥ ||
As darkness spread in every direction, the great seers came out of their dwellings carrying blazing torches. Drawing close to one another, they spoke their considered judgment on these ominous portents—signs that the order of dharma was being shaken and that grave consequences were drawing near.
व्यास उवाच
When moral order (dharma) is threatened, nature itself is portrayed as reflecting that disturbance through ominous signs; the sages respond not with panic but with sober discernment, interpreting events ethically and warning of consequences.
A pervasive darkness arises in all directions. The seers, carrying large torches, come out and gather together, then articulate their assessment of the ominous phenomena (utpātas) occurring at that time.
