Karma-Yoga, Yajña-Cakra, and the Governance of Desire
sa ghoṣo dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṁ hṛdayāni vyadārayat | nabhaś ca pṛthivīṁ caiva tumulo vyanunādayan ||
Sañjaya said: That tumultuous roar, reverberating through both sky and earth, tore through the hearts of the Dhārtarāṣṭras—Duryodhana’s party—striking them with dread.

The verse highlights how adharma weakens inner steadiness: when conscience and cause are unstable, even a mere sound—symbolizing the opponent’s unity and righteous momentum—can shatter morale. Ethical grounding (dharma) supports courage; its absence breeds fear and inner collapse.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a tremendous battle-roar resounded across sky and earth, and its impact psychologically devastated the Dhārtarāṣṭras (the Kaurava side), as the opposing force’s proclamation of readiness and power struck them with dread.
