महत्या सेनया युक्ता नानादेशसमुत्थया । भीष्मस्य समरे राजन् प्रार्थयाना महद् यश:,नरेश्वर! इनके साथ अनेक देशोंसे आयी हुई विशाल सेना मौजूद थी। ये समरभूमिमें भीष्मके महान् यशकी रक्षा करना चाहते थे
mahatyā senayā yuktā nānādeśa-samutthayā | bhīṣmasya samare rājan prārthayānā mahad yaśaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: O King, he was supported by a vast army drawn from many different lands. In that battle they sought to uphold and secure Bhīṣma’s great fame—standing with him so that his renown would not be diminished amid the clash of arms.
