Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas
सानुबन्धान् हनिष्यामि ये मां योत्स्यन्ति संगरे । इति तत् कुरु कौन्तेय सत्यं वाक्यमरिंदम
sānubandhān haniṣyāmi ye māṁ yotsyanti saṅgare | iti tat kuru kaunteya satyaṁ vākyam ariṁdama ||
Sañjaya said: “I shall slay, together with their followers and allies, those who will fight against me in battle.” Therefore, O son of Kuntī, do so—make your word true, O subduer of foes.
संजय उवाच
The verse emphasizes satya (truthfulness) as fidelity to one’s spoken commitment: a warrior’s word should not be empty, and ethical integrity is measured by keeping one’s pledge even under the pressure of battle.
Sañjaya reports a fierce resolve expressed in the war context—slaying those who come to fight—then urges Kaunteya (Arjuna) to act accordingly and ensure his declared word proves true, reinforcing the seriousness of vows and declarations on the battlefield.
