Sañjaya said: Bhīmasena, having pierced King Bāhlīka—his own great-grandfather—roared with a mighty cry, like a tiger in the forest.

The verse highlights the harsh demands of kṣatriya-dharma in war: when elders uphold an unjust side, a warrior may be compelled to oppose them. It also conveys the psychological intensity of battle—courage and ferocity arise even amid the sorrow of fighting one’s own kin.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīma strikes (wounds) the aged King Bāhlīka, described as Bhīma’s great-grandfather, and then lets out a thunderous roar, compared to a tiger roaring in a forest.
