एवं मां भरतश्रेष्ठ गाड़ेय: प्राह शास्त्रवित् । तत्र सर्वात्मना मन्ये गाड्नेयस्यैव पालनम्
Translation
Sañjaya said: “O best of the Bharatas, thus did Gāṅgeya—learned in the śāstras—speak to me. Therefore, on the battlefield, I deem it my foremost duty to protect Gāṅgeya (Bhīṣma) with all my strength.”
