sa tvaṁ śīghram ito gatvā bhīṣmasya śibiraṁ prati anumānya guruṁ vṛddha śastra-nyāsaya bhārata bhārata
Karna said: “So you—go quickly from here to Bhishma’s camp. Having won over that venerable elder and teacher, make him lay down his weapons, O Bharata.”
कर्ण उवाच
Even amid war, one may seek outcomes through respectful persuasion of elders and recognized authorities rather than only through force; urgency and strategic action are framed within deference to a guru-like senior.
Karna urges the addressed person to go at once to Bhishma’s military camp and, by conciliating the revered elder, induce him to set aside his weapons—effectively removing or restraining Bhishma’s participation in battle.
