Āśvamedhika Parva, Adhyāya 77 — Saindhava resistance, Arjuna’s restraint, and Duḥśalā’s supplication

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Arjuna—the bull among the Pāṇḍavas—was covered all over with arrows and hemmed in as though within a narrow space. O Bhārata, O joy of the Bharatas, he looked like a bird darting about inside a cage—an image that reveals both the fury of the assault and the warrior’s endurance: though wounded and constrained, he still moved and resisted, refusing despair and never forsaking his duty.
