“As you desired, I have given you these jeweled earrings that are mine. Now, make fruitful the promise you have made today—fulfil it for my sake.”
सौदास उवाच
The verse foregrounds ethical reciprocity and the dharmic weight of a samaya (pledge): once a gift is accepted and a promise is made, honor requires that the promise be fulfilled without evasion.
Saudāsa states that he has already handed over his own jeweled earrings as requested, and he now urges the other party to complete their side of the agreement by making their pledged act ‘successful’—i.e., by carrying it out.
