Shloka 4

गौतमस्य तु शिष्याणां बहूनां जनमेजय । उत्तड़के< भ्यधिका प्रीति: स्नेहश्वैवाभवत्‌ तदा

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

gautamasya tu śiṣyāṇāṃ bahūnāṃ janamejaya |

uttaraṅke bhyadhikā prītiḥ snehaś caivābhavat tadā ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “O Janamejaya, among Gautama’s many disciples, at that time there arose an especially great affection and warm attachment toward Uttaṅka, marking him as the dearest among the pupils.”
