The Brahmin woman said: “This cannot be truly understood by one of little inner strength, nor by one whose self is undisciplined. What I have grasped is at once much and yet little—compressed into brief form—and my understanding feels scattered and unsettled.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
True understanding of subtle spiritual instruction requires an inner readiness—self-cultivation, steadiness, and disciplined mind. Without that, even a profound teaching heard in brief form remains fragmented and hard to retain.
The Brahmin woman responds to a condensed exposition she has heard, confessing her limited capacity and lack of inner refinement; she says the teaching feels both vast and yet too compressed, leaving her understanding scattered.
