अलर्कोपाख्यानम् — Indriya-Nigraha and Yogic Victory

Mahābhārata 14.30

नाध्यगच्छत्‌ परं श्रेयो योगान्मतिमतां वर: । तब वे सामर्थ्यशाली राजा एकाग्रचित्त होकर विचार करने लगे। विप्रवर! बहुत दिनोंतक निरन्तर सोचने-विचारनेके बाद बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेष्ठ राजा अलर्कको योगसे बढ़कर दूसरा कोई कल्याणकारी साधन नहीं प्रतीत हुआ

Then that mighty king, with mind made one-pointed, began to reflect. O best of Brāhmaṇas, after many days of unbroken deliberation, King Alarka—foremost among the wise—saw no means of welfare higher than Yoga.
