Vāsudeva’s Upadeśa: The Inner Enemy and the Indra–Vṛtra Precedent (आत्मशत्रु-बोधः; इन्द्र-वृत्रोपाख्यानम्)

शतक्रतुरतिक्रुद्धस्तत्र वज़्मवासृजत्‌ । जब जलपर भी वृत्रासुरका अधिकार तथा रसरूपी विषयका अपहरण हो गया, तब अत्यन्त क्रोधमें भरे हुए इन्द्रने वहाँ भी उसपर वज्रका प्रहार किया

Vāyu said: Indra, lord of a hundred sacrifices (Śatakratu), inflamed with fierce anger, hurled his vajra—the thunderbolt—there. In the course of the tale, this blow follows the seizure by Vṛtrāsura of Indra’s rightful dominion and enjoyment, those “rasa”-like objects of experience; thus Indra’s wrath lays bare the ethical strain between restoring cosmic order and the peril of acting from ungoverned rage.
