Agnidevaḥ tumhārī saba orase rakṣā kareṃ. Devarāja Indra tumhāre liye jalakī nahīṃ, sampūrṇa kāmanāoṃ kī varṣā kareṃ, aura tumhāre vadhake liye uṭhe hue aura jalarāśike sātha cañcala gati se cale hue mahāghora vajrako ve Devendra apane hāthameṃ hī rakhe raheṃ.
Saṃvarta said: “May Agni protect you on every side. May Indra, king of the gods, rain down for you not mere water but the full abundance of your desires. And may that dread thunderbolt of Devendra—raised to strike down your slayer and rushing with the restless speed of a surging flood—remain held back in his own hand.”
संवर्त उवाच
The verse frames ethical power as protection and restraint: divine strength (Indra’s vajra) is invoked not to punish indiscriminately but to be withheld, while prosperity is sought as the fulfillment of rightful aims rather than mere material rain.
Saṃvarta pronounces a benediction: Agni is asked to guard the addressed person on all sides, Indra is asked to grant complete boons, and Indra’s fearsome thunderbolt—poised to kill— is prayed to remain in Indra’s hand, i.e., not to be released against the recipient.
