Marutta’s Sacrifice: Indra’s Threat, Saṃvarta’s Mantric Restraint, and Divine Reconciliation (अध्याय १०)

Saṁvarta said: “O lion among kings, let your fear of Śakra (Indra) depart. I shall drive away this most dreadful fear. By the Stambhinī spell I will quickly neutralize the terrible danger that is coming upon you. Trust in me, and do not fear being overcome by Indra.”
The verse emphasizes steadiness and trust in competent guidance when facing overwhelming power: fear should be dispelled through resolve, assurance, and the appropriate means of protection, rather than surrendering to panic.
Saṁvarta reassures a king who fears Indra, promising to remove the impending danger by employing the Stambhinī vidyā—an occult power meant to restrain or neutralize an adversary—urging him not to fear defeat.
