वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the human and ethical response to the easing of war’s grief: when suffering is reversed and the fallen are restored, society experiences not vengeance but wonder, relief, and renewed life—symbolized by rejoicing and calmly taking food again.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that people from many regions hear the astonishing news that the royal warriors who had died in battle have ‘returned’ (reappeared). On hearing this, they become joyful and celebrate, even resuming ordinary acts like eating, indicating a shift from mourning to relief.
