Educational Q&A

Grief is tempered by dharma: those who lived and died aligned with kṣatriya-duty are not to be lamented as if their end were meaningless; their death is framed as a duty-fulfilled, honorable completion.

Vyāsa addresses a grieving listener in the aftermath of the great war, urging them to refrain from mourning the fallen heroes, since they died as kṣatriyas should—steadfast in their ordained role.
