धृतराष्ट्रदर्शनाय पाण्डवानां प्रयाणम् | The Pāṇḍavas Prepare to Visit Dhṛtarāṣṭra
इति श्रीमहाभारते आश्रमवासिके पर्वणि पुत्रदर्शनपर्वणि व्यासकुन्तीसंवादे त्रिंशोडथ्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate āśramavāsike parvaṇi putradarśanaparvaṇi vyāsa-kuntī-saṃvāde triṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ
Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Āśramavāsika Parva, in the section called the ‘Vision of the Sons’, the dialogue between Vyāsa and Kuntī concludes the thirtieth chapter.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a chapter-ending colophon, the verse itself teaches indirectly: it frames the preceding dialogue as authoritative instruction, emphasizing that grief after catastrophic war is to be approached through dharmic reflection, remembrance, and spiritual counsel rather than despair.
Vaiśampāyana marks the completion of the thirtieth chapter of the Āśramavāsika Parva, specifically the ‘Putradharśana’ episode, concluding the dialogue between Vyāsa and Kuntī.
