अश्रमवासिनां विषादः — Lament in Hastināpura after the Elders’ Forest Withdrawal
संशयच्छेदनार्थाय प्राप्त: कौरवनन्दन । “कौरवनन्दन! नरेश्वर! वास्तवमें तुम सब लोगोंका यह समागम सुनकर तुम्हारे मानसिक संदेहोंका निवारण करनेके लिये मैं यहाँ आया हूँ
saṁśaya-cchedanārthāya prāptaḥ kauravanandana |
Vaiśampāyana said: “O delight of the Kuru line, I have come here for the purpose of cutting through doubt—having heard of this gathering, I have arrived to dispel the uncertainties in your mind.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic role of a wise narrator/teacher: doubts should be addressed directly, and clarity is offered not as argument for its own sake but to guide right understanding and right action.
Vaiśampāyana addresses a Kuru descendant and states his purpose in coming: he has arrived after hearing of the assembly, specifically to resolve the listener’s mental doubts and provide clear guidance.
