अध्याय १५ (Āśramavāsika-parva): धृतराष्ट्रस्य वनवासानुज्ञायाचनम् — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s renewed plea for consent to forest-dwelling
draūpadī cānvayāc chvaśrūṃ viṣaṇṇavadanā tadā | vanavāsāya gacchantīṃ rudatī bhadrayā saha |
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Then Draupadī too, her face clouded with grief, followed her mother-in-law. Seeing her setting out for life in the forest, Draupadī—together with Subhadrā—went after Kuntī, weeping.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma expressed as compassionate solidarity and respect for elders: when Kuntī undertakes forest-dwelling, Draupadī (with Subhadrā) does not remain detached but follows, sharing the burden of sorrow and honoring the renunciant transition.
Kuntī is departing for vanavāsa (forest life). Draupadī, overwhelmed with grief, follows her mother-in-law, and Subhadrā accompanies Draupadī; both women are described as weeping as they go after Kuntī.
