Chatra–Upānah Dāna: Origin Narrative

Jamadagni–Reṇukā–Sūrya Saṃvāda

Nahuṣa uvāca: atithir gṛha-saṁstho 'stu kāma-vṛttaḥ tu dīkṣitaḥ | vidyāṁ prayacchatu bhūto yas te harati puṣkaram ||

Nahuṣa said: “May the one who has stolen your lotus-flowers become a renunciant and yet remain lodged within a house; may he be consecrated for sacrifice and yet live by whim and desire; and may he teach knowledge for wages—thus incurring the share of sinful results born of such hypocritical, dharma-violating ways of life.”
