अत्रिर्वाच नैतस्येह यथास्माकं क्षुधा वीर्य समाहतम् । कृच्छाधीतं प्रणष्टं च तेन पीवाउछुना सह,अत्रि बोले--हमलोगोंकी तरह भूखके मारे उसकी सारी शक्ति नष्ट नहीं हो गयी है तथा बड़े कष्टसे जो वेदोंका अध्ययन किया गया था, वह भी हमारी तरह इसका नष्ट नहीं हुआ है; इसीलिये यह कुत्तेके साथ मोटा हो गया है
Transliteration
atrir uvāca—naitasyeha yathāsmākaṁ kṣudhā vīryaṁ samāhatam | kṛcchrādhītaṁ praṇaṣṭaṁ ca tena pīvāu chūnā saha ||
Translation
Atri said: “In his case here, as with us, hunger has not crushed and destroyed his strength. Nor has the Vedic learning, acquired with great hardship, been lost as it has been for us. Therefore he has grown fat, even in the company of that dog.”
