Yudhiṣṭhira said: “You have already explained the cause behind the origin of gold. Now tell me this as well—how did Tāraka meet his end? Explain to me how that Tāraka came to his death.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse models dhārmic inquiry: after hearing one explanation (the origin of gold), Yudhiṣṭhira seeks the connected account (Tāraka’s death), showing disciplined curiosity and the ethical pursuit of complete understanding from a trustworthy narrator.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses the narrator and says that the cause of gold’s origin has already been explained; he now requests the next linked episode—how Tāraka came to his death—asking for a clear account of Tāraka’s downfall.
