Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
इत्युक्त: स तथेत्युक्त्वा भगवान् हव्यवाहन: । जगामाथ दुराधर्षो गड़ां भागीरथीं प्रति,देवताओंके ऐसा कहनेपर “तथास्तु” कहकर दुर्धर्ष भगवान् हव्यवाहन भागीरथी गंगाके तटपर गये
ity uktaḥ sa tathety uktvā bhagavān havyavāhanaḥ | jagāmātha durādharṣo gaṅgāṃ bhāgīrathīṃ prati ||
Thus addressed by the gods, the divine Fire—Havyavāhana—replied, “So be it.” Then the irresistible one set out and went toward the Bhāgīrathī Gaṅgā.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights readiness to affirm and carry out a rightful divine request—saying “tathāstu” and acting without delay—reflecting alignment with dharma and the maintenance of cosmic order.
After being addressed by the gods, Agni (Havyavāhana) agrees and departs, proceeding toward the Bhāgīrathī Gaṅgā, indicating the next step in the episode connected with sacred rites and divine purposes.
