Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
ततोडब्रुवन् देवगणा: पितामहमुपेत्य वै । कृताञ्जलिपुटा: सर्वे शिरोभिरभिवन्द्य च,इस प्रकार विवाद उपस्थित होनेपर समस्त देवताओंने ब्रह्माजीके पास जा दोनों हाथ जोड़ मस्तक झुकाकर उनको प्रणाम किया और कहा--
tato 'bruvan devagaṇāḥ pitāmaham upetya vai | kṛtāñjalipuṭāḥ sarve śirobhir abhivandya ca ||
When the dispute had thus arisen, all the hosts of gods approached Pitāmaha Brahmā. With palms joined in reverence and heads bowed, they paid him homage and then spoke—seeking his guidance to restore order and uphold dharma.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
In moments of dispute, one should approach a legitimate, wise authority with humility and reverence, seeking guidance to re-establish dharma rather than escalating conflict.
A conflict has arisen; the gods collectively go to Brahmā (Pitāmaha), bow with joined hands, and begin to present their case or request for a decision.
